National Short Story Week and Grace Dieu Writer's Circle
November 10th saw Grace Dieu Writers host a successful reading evening to celebrate National Short Story week. We were delighted to be joined by Charnwood, Ashby and Runaway Writers, who came along to the Constitutional Club and treated us to samples of their work.
Thanks to everyone who came along, and who made the event such a success!
Grassroutes Project with the University of Leicester
Grace Dieu Writers' Circle is proud to be a partner in the "Grassroutes" project, run by the English Department at the University of Leicester.
An Arts Council-funded project, Grassroutes "surveys high-quality transcultural writing by Leicestershire-based writers from 1980 to the present. It fosters local, national and international appreciation – as well as critical recognition - for this writing" (taken from the Grassroutes website). Please go to http://www2.le.ac.uk/departments/english/creativewriting/grassroutes for more information about this interesting and valuable project.

Grassroutes e-catalogue now ready to view at http://www2.le.ac.uk/departments/english/creativewriting/grassroutes/grassroutes-e-catalogue
The first phase of the Arts Council’s Grassroutes: Contemporary Leicestershire Writing has now ended with the launch of the Grassroutes e-catalogue. The e-catalogue is an open access database of transcultural writing in Leicestershire with information about titles, authors, genre, year and place of publication. You can browse the entries or search for a particular author or title. If you know of any relevant titles that ought to be added, please contact Corinne at csf11@le.ac.uk. You can also send her your feedback or comments about the catalogue.
Grassroutes promotes public knowledge and engagement with transcultural writing in Leicestershire that has been published since 1980. The e-catalogue is based on a survey that was conducted by Dr. Corinne Fowler in 2011. The survey yielded an unprecedented number of titles and suggests quite how prolific Leicestershire's writers have been.
